I wanted to share a story that a member of the In The Woo community shared. It perfectly illustrates what happens when we ignore our intuition and also what happens when we listen. Being guided to people, situations, and even opportunities that we wouldn’t have come up with otherwise. Our intuition can help us align with our highest and best and I am here for it. Plus, I want to invite you to share your stories of intuition wins and challenges. It is the best part of building a community.

The Story –

A client was traveling to HI and while there was going to meet up with an old friend. They made plans for the next day. His friend, Joe, had been flaky in the past, but my client really wanted to see him. He woke up first thing in the morning with an intuition that Joe was going to cancel at the last minute, but my client ignored it. He was hopeful. Be clear, he didn’t hear that intuitive message only once. He heard it 3 times before he even got in the car to drive the 90 minutes to the side of the island his friend lived on.

He texted as he was packing up the car. Joe, if you think you will have to cancel, I’ll just stay on my side of the Island. Let me know. And before his friend could respond, my client, feeling guilty for doubting his friend, texted. Just kidding, I am on my way. Off he went.

The 90 minute drive took 2.5 hours. He sat in 4 different construction stops and got super hungry but didn’t stop because he didn’t want to cancel or be late for his friend. He kept in communication via text so Joe would know about his delay. Finally, he arrived on the other side of the island. 10 minutes before the new time to meet, his friend canceled. Bummer! Man, when we ignore our intuition, it can seem silly after the fact.

His day, though, actually has a happy ending. He decided even though his friend canceled (which he had already gotten a heads up about thx intuition), he was going to have a great day anyway. He made plans to drive to Volcano National Park after he had a yummy lunch. One of the things that he really wanted to see on the Island was a Lava Tube.

On the way, he heard intuitively “get a coffee”. He wasn’t thirsty, but you better believe he was listening now. So he stopped at the next coffee shop and wouldn’t you know. They had a free and open to the public tour of a lava tube between 2-5pm. He arrived at 2:03pm. Now here is the especially cool and totally intuitive part of the thing. He was in the Kona region of the big island. Before he heard “get a coffee”, he had seen 20 other coffee houses. But this was the one he stopped at. In reflection he shared with the community,

My intuition aligned with my desire to have a great day. I was truly curious about what a great day would be. BAM my intuition tells me to get a coffee. In the morning when I was hearing the message that my friend Joe was going to cancel. I didn’t listen to my intuition. Instead, I used my logic and reacted to my emotions. Part of learning a new skill [being an intuitive decision maker] is making mistakes and learning from the mistakes. I am remembering that now as I am enjoying my truly exceptional decaf cup of coffee after seeing a seriously cool Lava Tube. Here are my pictures.

So here is the thing. Learning to use your intuition first takes recognizing it, second takes having tools to translate, and third trust in yourself and it so it can lead you. AND just like my client turned his day around, you can too. I hope his story illustrates the wonder that listening and following your intuitive guidance can create versus the awh crap of when you don’t.
